Jason Zander, Executive Vice President, Microsoft Azure, looks at some of the biggest cloud trends that are creating compelling opportunities and driving innovation on a platform of global, ubiquitous computing.

As executive vice president of Microsoft Azure, Jason Zander leads the core teams building Microsoft’s intelligent cloud and intelligent edge – from silicon to cloud to the edge. This purview includes Azure strategy, product management, engineering and operations of cloud product lines including IaaS, PaaS, microservices, networking, storage, IoT, SQL Server, big data and analytics stacks, quantum computing, global expansion and more.
Zander is passionate about empowering customers and delivering end-to-end solutions that address their unique needs. Microsoft Azure has grown under his tenure to become a global leader in enterprise cloud computing, serving more than 95% of the Fortune 500. Zander grew revenue 5x from 2016 to 2018, and grew systems to handle millions of compute cores and exabytes of storage with a global fiber and data center footprint representing billions of dollars of annual capital expenditure.
Since joining Microsoft in 1992 Zander has worked on numerous products, most recently as corporate vice president of engineering for the Visual Studio team where he led the product to over a billion dollars in revenue. He holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Minnesota State University, and resides in the Seattle area with his family.
As part of Zander’s commitment to growing and empowering the next generation of technical leadership, he enjoys sponsoring Microsoft’s Early-in-Career and Manager Excellence programming. He also serves as the chief technical advisor of Titletown Tech in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a partnership between the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft to build and fund early-stage high-growth business in the region.
